Remarks

P.G. McCready, McCready Galleries Inc., 15 September 1976 to Catherine Harrison, Assistant Director, Tom Thomson Memorial Art Gallery, Owen Sound: "About five years ago I first saw the Tom Thomson canvas which you acquired as a gift from Dr. and Mrs. G.W. Archibald. It was painted on canvas board, but the canvas was separating from the board and the picture itself needed cleaning. I suggested to the owner that the canvas be removed from the board, be relined with canvas and be put on a stretcher. We did this for the owner and cleaned the painting. The same letter also remarked that "Mr. King [John M. King] is an old man now and had the picture in his possession for over forty years."
